The Exploration Company has raised $160 million to develop its Nyx cargo spacecraft for LEO transport to future commercial space stations and cislunar space. The Series B round was led by European venture capital funds Balderton Capital and Plural, with participation from France’s French Tech Souveraineté and Germany’s DeepTech & Climate Fonds, alongside others. The company has a more than $750 million backlog and contracts with Axiom, Starlab and Vast for transporting cargo to their planned space stations.

SpaceX’s sixth test flight saw its unmanned Starship rocket reach space and travel halfway around the Earth before reentering the atmosphere for a splashdown in the Indian Ocean. SpaceX did not attempt to land its Super Heavy booster on the launch tower arms. Automated health checks on the launch tower triggered an abort of the catch attempt.

Ground teams hoisted the Space Launch System rocket’s left aft booster assembly onto mounting posts on the mobile launcher, marking the beginning of stacking for the second SLS rocket. NASA plans to launch four astronauts to fly around the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years, possibly in 2026. After the uncrewed Artemis I test flight in 2022, the Orion capsule's heat shield was found to have cracked in unexpected ways. NASA is expected to announce what changes, if any, are required for the Artemis II mission by year-end.

Scientists Think Gravity Isn’t Just a Force—It’s an Untapped Quantum Field
