In 10 years, the SETI@home team winnowed 12 billion SETI@home detections of unusual radio signals down to 100 worth a second look, and are using China's FAST to attempt to re-observe the signals. SETI@home had over 5 million users at its peak. A similar crowdsourced SETI project could play a role in the new analysis, but such projects require dedicated personnel and funding to be sustained.
